Mohawk Technology Wins MCSB Award

Lansing, Mich. - Mohawk Technology was honored as one of 50 companies in Michigan to receive the MCSB’s 2024 Michigan Companies to Watch Award at the organization’s annual awards gala recently held at the Breslin Center on Michigan State University’s campus in East Lansing, Mich. “Receiving the MCSB award is an honor because it represents years of hard work by our employees,” founder and CEO Jay Isaacson.

“The work environment we’ve created helps employees enjoy their work and see a path to future professional growth. As a result, we can trust employees to take care of our customers. This has been a critical driver of recent company success,” said Isaacson.

Mohawk Technology’s head of operations Nick Peterson traveled to East Lansing to receive the award on behalf of the company and participated in the awards gala.

“The event was incredibly well run by MCSB, with Michigan’s Governor brought in as the keynote speaker,” said Peterson. “I enjoyed networking with the other award winners from a broad range of industries from around the state, and it was great to see other Upper Peninsula companies being recognized as well.

“When I started working at Mohawk Technology over 7 years ago, I didn’t envision this type of company growth and recognition. The credit goes to a great team of employees that have consistently produced high-quality work.”

For Mohawk Technology, the award builds on recent company success and growth. In 2022, it received an Excellence Award from Operation Action U.P., given annually to outstanding businesses contributing to the economic well-being of the Upper Peninsula. Over the past three years Mohawk Technology has completed capital building projects at three of its company locations that have resulted in new Process and Mechatronics Shops and a Panel Testing Facility.

The MCSB describes the award winners as up-and-coming Michigan-based companies with high potential for future growth and success. Award criteria include annual revenue between $750,000 and $50 million and between six and 99 full-time equivalent employees. Companies must also have substantial growth and a sustainable competitive advantage.

Companies receiving the award were selected from among 500 nominations from around the state. In addition to a competitive landscape for this award, the businesses who are selected by the judges go through a rigorous due diligence process prior to the final decision.

According to the MCSB, the 2024 Michigan 50 Companies to Watch have made a substantial collective economic impact in the state, including:

  • $414.3 million in total annual revenue during 2023

  • Projected increases in revenue by 18% in 2024

  • Providing jobs to 1,577 full-time equivalent employees, 1,565 within Michigan

  • Projected to create over 339 new jobs in 2024

To celebrate the companies at the MCSB awards gala, recipients were asked to project where their company would be in 20 years.

“In 20 years, I anticipate Mohawk Technology to be providing custom and standard automation equipment for the dairy industry and related food industries,” said Isaacson. “We will maintain our headquarters on the Keweenaw Peninsula in Mohawk, Mich., but will also establish locations around the country.”

Mohawk Technology is an automation engineering company with two primary units. The company’s Process Group helps customers expand modern factory capability for the food processing industry by combining controls engineering, process engineering, and process installation into turn-key process solutions. The Mechatronics Group assists customers with the implementation of automation and robotic solutions in their factories, helping them to meet modern manufacturing needs. Mohawk Technology celebrated 10 years in business in 2023 and has expanded to over 50 employees at four locations across the Midwest.
